You might want to test over some port number that ISPs simply can't/don't block because it would stop critical services like HTTP(S). If you're still unable to get external access from the public internet, you'll need to verify your ISP is not using CGNAT (ie: do you actually have a public IP address assigned to your router- you should be able to check this on the router by seeing what IP it claims it has assigned you and making sure it's not within any of the private ranges) and then that they aren't blocking traffic on specific ports. If all the above steps are working, you're correctly configured and you'll have your port accessible and working within your local network.
As an aside, you'd probably just want to turn the ASUS into a bridge or access point so you can avoid double-NAT. If your modem can't run in bridge mode because the ISP is restricting it or it's just not capable, then you'll have to set up port forwarding here as well. Check your modem is in "bridge" mode and not routing or running as a DHCP server as this will cause double NAT and be another layer of network config to manage.So now try connecting to 192.168.1.1:25545 (or whatever the gateway IP is). If you can do both of the above, then it's time to start debugging your router and ensuring the port forwarding is all correct.Can you access from a device on the same network using your host device's IP? Can you connect via 192.168.1.105:25545?.On the device you want to open the port up on can you connect to it via both 127.0.0.1:25545 and localhost:25545? Is the service / program you're using allowing connections on non-loopback NICs? ie: is the service bound to 0.0.0.0:25545 or 127.0.0.1:25545? If it's not bound to 0.0.0.0:25545 then it won't be accessible via your network interface.Is that modem in bridge mode? If it's not in bridge mode then you're going to be double NAT-ed which means there's yet another layer to implement port-forwarding on too. If you can't access the port on the local network, then it's nothing to do with the port-forwarding on your router, it's the device itself that not accepting connections so it'll be either a firewall issue or you don't have anything listening on the port you think you do.Īlso, the ASUS RT-AC3200 is a router only so it must also be plugged into a modem. I updated the firmware just today because I thought it might be the issue, I hadn't updated in like a year or more!
I have an ASUS RT-AC3200 that is running firmware version 3.0.0.4.382_52288, which should be the latest version. With any luck, someone smarter than me on this sub will know exactly what is up. I've rebooted after applying settings, I've googled almost every little setting possible, and everything seems right.

I have checked the port from outside of my network and inside, from multiple devices, both with disabled and enabled firewalls(I even tried enabling windows firewall and adding a rule for the port, no change). I have disabled and enabled the firewall, no change. I have ensured my router is not behind any other routers, I have ensured I have a WAN address, I have made sure that port forwarding is on and that I don't have anything like DMZ turned on.
